Who are Explora Journeys?

Explora Journeys are an ultra-luxury cruise line that opened in 2021. Explora Journeys is owned by the Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) which is in turn owned by the Italian shipping dynasty, the Aponte family. Headquartered out of Switzerland in Geneva, Explora has offices in Europe, the Americas, Australia, and Africa.

Explora Journeys’ first ship, the Explora I, had its inaugural sailing out of Copenhagen on August 1st, 2023.

Explora Journeys’ second ship, Explora II, had its inaugural sailing out of Rome on September 16th, 2024.

Explora Journeys’ third ship, Explora II, had its inaugural sailing out of Genoa on July 24th, 2024.

Explora Journeys has three more ships on order with the Italian shipyard Fincantieri. These ships are:

EXPLORA IV - Due in early 2027 (construction completed, final fit out underway)

EXPLORA V - Due in late 2027 (construction nearing completion)

EXPLORA VI - Due in 2028 (contruction started)
